Abstract
For patient with few teeth left, an implant assisted removable partial denture (IARPD) can be a good choice for improvement of masticatory function and convenience of denture use to the patients. In this case, a 71-year-old male patient showed a decrease in denture retention and masticatory efficiency due to localized chronic advanced periodontitis and severe caries. Therefore, a full-mouth rehabilitation was required for this patient. After clinical and radiographic examination, tooth extraction and alveoloplasty were performed to gain intermaxillary space. Implants were placed at the mandibular right 1st premolar and 1st molar position, and a surveyed fixed partial denture was fabricated. A splint surveyed crown was fabricated for the residual mandibular left 2nd premolar and 1st molar, and then the IARPD was made. There is no remarkable complications such as patient¡¯s discomfort, fracture of prosthesis, TMD, and screw loosening for 6 months follow-up period. In this case, patient with few teeth left can get improvement of masticatory function and convenience of denture use by making an IARPD.
